Sliebhnamban Brigid Cloak procession from Main Guard to Old St-Mary's followed by food and craft and Spoken Word and music recital

On Saturday 31stJanuary, Brigid’s Eve, the cloak will be brought out in Clonmel under the arches of the Main Guard leaving at 5pm to be brought to Old St-Mary's where afood & craft exhibition with live music, followed by a recital will take place from 5.30 onwards. The procession is free to join; tickets for the church event are €25 and it is recommended to book ticketsto avoid disappointment. Tickets include traditional food and cheese tasting, a warm drink, cross and Brat Bhride making and a recital of music and spoken word.


The Brigid's cloak created three years ago by 100 Tipperary women will be back for another outing this coming Saturday 31st January in Clonmel. The cloak has been invited to the Dublin Brigit's parade on Sunday 1st February and this is an excuse for displaying it in Clonmel the night before. Approximately 20 participants will come out to help carry the cloak, chant and play drums along with stilt-walker Dee Tierney who wears the cloak and Tipperary singer/songwriter Breege Phelan who composed the original song. The cloak has also been invited to Florence, Italy, later in February with funding from Culture Ireland.
